72. Haemaphysalis japonica Warburton, 1908 .

A Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages have been found on Artiodactyla: Cervidae; Carnivora: Canidae and Mustelidae; Galliformes: Phasianidae, and Passeriformes (several families). Adults and nymphs have been collected from Artiodactyla: Bovidae, Carnivora: Felidae and Ursidae, and Lagomorpha: Leporidae; adults alone have been recovered from Artiodactyla: Suidae, Erinaceomorpha: Erinaceidae, and Perissodactyla: Equidae; immature stages alone have been recovered from Rodentia: Cricetidae, Muridae and Sciuridae, Charadriiformes: Scolopacidae, and Strigiformes: Strigidae . Haemaphysalis japonica is a sporadic parasite of humans.
