59. Haemaphysalis hoodi Warburton and Nuttall, 1909 .
An Afrotropical species, all of whose parasitic stages are
usually found on Aves (several orders). There are occasional records of adults and immature stages from Artiodactyla: Bovidae, Primates: Indriidae, and Rodentia: Sciuridae; adult ticks alone have sometimes been recovered from Carnivora: Canidae, Lagomorpha: Leporidae, and Rodentia: Hystricidae; immature stages have been found on Carnivora: Viverridae . Haemaphysalis hoodi is a very rare parasite of humans.
