An Australasian species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Peramelemorphia: Peramelidae, but they have also been collected from Rodentia: Muridae . Adult ticks and larvae have been recovered from Dasyuromorphia: Dasyuridae; adult ticks alone have been found on Monotremata: Tachyglossidae; larvae and nymphs have been recovered from Cuculiformes: Cuculidae; nymphs alone have been found on Perissodactyla: Equidae (Chalada et al. 2018, Guglielmone & Robbins 2018). Haemaphysalis humerosa is a very rare parasite of humans.
