An Afrotropical species whose adults are usually found on Carnivora: Viverridae, but they have also been found on Artiodactyla: Bovidae, Carnivora (several families), and Rodentia: Hystricidae . There are no records of Haemaphysalis punctaleachi causing human parasitism.
