An Australasian species, all of whose parasitic stages have been found on Rodentia: Muridae; adults and larvae have been recovered from Dasyuromorphia: Dasyuridae, while adults alone have been collected from Peramelemorphia: Peramelidae, and Diprotodontia: Phalangeridae . There are no records of Haemaphysalis ratti causing human parasitism.
