An Oriental species, all of whose parasitic stages, including the undescribed larva, have been found on Artiodactyla: Tragulidae, and Rodentia: Muridae; adults and nymphs have been collected from Carnivora: Canidae and Viverridae; adults alone have been recovered from Artiodactyla: Cervidae and Suidae, Carnivora: Felidae and Ursidae, and Perissodactyla: Tapiridae, while nymphs alone have been found on Rodentia: Sciuridae, and Scandentia: Tupaiidae . Haemaphysalis semermis is a rare parasite of humans.
