An Oriental species, all of whose parasitic stages, including the undescribed larva, have been found on Rodentia: Muridae . Adults alone have been collected from Artiodactyla: Bovidae, Cervidae and Suidae, Carnivora: Canidae, Felidae and Mustelidae, and Perissodactyla: Equidae and Tapiridae; immature stages have been recovered from Artiodactyla: Tragulidae, Carnivora: Viverridae, and Rodentia: Sciuridae . Haemaphysalis nadchatrami is a sporadic parasite of humans.

(1965b) state that Haemaphysalis nadchatrami, named as Haemaphysalis papuana nadchatrami, was consistently confused with Haemaphysalis hystricis and Haemaphysalis semermis in Nuttall and Warburton (1915), Krijgsman and Ponto (1932), Anastos (1950), Kohls (1957c) and Audy et al. (1960).
