23. Dermacentor nitens Neumann, 1897 .

A Nearctic and Neotropical species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Perissodactyla: Equidae, but they have also been collected from Mammalia (several orders), and rarely from Anura: Bufonidae, and Squamata: Boidae . Dermacentor nitens is a sporadic parasite of humans.
