Note: the female of Bothriocroton oudemansi described in Schulze (1936b, under the name Aponomma oudemansi) is, in fact, Bothriocroton concolor, as explained in Beati et al. (2008), and this applies as well to the female description of Bothriocroton oudemansi in Santos Dias (1993), which is based on Schulze (1936b). The confusion between the females of these species was noted by Kaufman (1972), who considered (under Aponomma) Bothriocroton oudemansi a synonym of Bothriocroton concolor . Nevertheless, Santos Dias (1993) treated both species as valid, a fact later confirmed by Beati et al. (2008).
