An Oriental species whose adults and immature stages have been found on Mammalia (several orders) and Cuculiformes: Cuculidae; adults alone have been collected from Carnivora: Herpestidae, and Lagomorpha: Leporidae; immature stages alone have been recovered from Primates: Cercopithecidae, Rodentia: Hystricidae and Muridae, Soricomorpha: Soricidae, Bucerotiformes: Bucerotidae, Galliformes: Phasianidae, and Passeriformes: Sylviidae . Haemaphysalis cuspidata is a very rare parasite of humans.
