An Afrotropical species whose adults and nymphs are usually found on Artiodactyla: Bovidae . All parasitic stages of Amblyomma splendidum have been collected from Artiodactyla: Bovidae and Suidae; adults alone have been recovered from Proboscidea: Elephantidae; nymphs and larvae have been taken from Carnivora: Canidae, Rodentia: Thryonomyidae, and Galliformes: Numididae; larvae alone have been found on Galliformes: Phasianidae . There are no records of Amblyomma splendidum causing human parasitism.
