An Australasian species whose larvae, nymphs and adults are frequently found on Artiodactyla: Bovidae, and Diprotodontia: Macropodidae, but all parasitic stages of Amblyomma triguttatum have also been found on Artiodactyla: Suidae, and Perissodactyla: Equidae . Adults and nymphs have been recovered from Carnivora: Canidae; adult ticks alone have been collected from Diprotodontia: Phascolarctidae and Potoroidae, and Monotremata: Tachyglossidae; nymphs and larvae have been found on Lagomorpha: Leporidae; nymphs alone have been taken from Squamata: Scincidae; and larvae alone have been found on Rodentia: Muridae (Krige et al. 2017, Guglielmone & Robbins 2018).
