A Neotropical species with a peculiar host profile because adult ticks have been found on Anura: Bufonidae, Crocodilia: Alligatoridae, Squamata: Boidae, Colubridae and Teiidae, Cingulata: Dasypodidae, and Carnivora: Canidae, while immature stages have been collected from Carnivora: Canidae, Rodentia: Cricetidae, Echimyidae and Sciuridae, and Didelphimorphia: Didelphidae (Guglielmone & Robbins 2018, Dantas-Torres et al. 2019a). Amblyomma fuscum is a very rare parasite of humans.
