Note: Santos Dias (1958a) lists Amblyomma boulengeri as a synonym of Amblyomma pilosum, but Keirans et al. (1973) treat this synonymy as incorrect, adding that Santos Dias confused the type of Amblyomma pilosum with a female tick that was later described as Amblyomma macfarlandi .
