A Neotropical species whose larvae and nymphs are usually found on Rodentia: Caviidae, but all known parasitic stages have been recovered from Caviidae . Females alone have been collected from Artiodactyla: Bovidae, and Perissodactyla: Equidae . There are no records of Ixodes longiscutatus causing human parasitism.
