An Oriental and Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Lagomorpha: Ochotonidae, but they have also been collected from Rodentia: Muridae; adults and nymphs have been taken from Rodentia: Sciuridae; nymphs alone have been found on Rodentia: Cricetidae . There are no records of Ixodes hyatti causing human parasitism.
