A Nearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Passeriformes: Hirundinidae . Adults and nymphs have been collected from Passeriformes: Fringillidae; nymphs alone have been recovered from Falconiformes: Falconidae . There are no records of Ixodes howelli causing human parasitism.
