A Nearctic and Neotropical species whose females and immature stages, including the undescribed larva, have been found on Carnivora: Procyonidae; females and nymphs have been collected from Carnivora: Canidae and Mephitidae; females alone have been recovered from Carnivora: Mustelidae, Didelphimorphia: Didelphidae, and Rodentia: Myocastoridae . There are no records of Ixodes rubidus causing human parasitism.
