A Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Rodentia: Muridae; adults alone have been recovered from Carnivora: Mustelidae; nymphs alone have been collected from Soricomorpha: Soricidae; unknown stages have been found on Rodentia: Cricetidae and Sciuridae, and Squamata: Viperidae (Maslenikova et al. 1964, Guglielmone et al. 2014). There are no records of Ixodes occultus causing human parasitism.
