A Nearctic species whose adults are usually found on Lagomorpha: Ochotonidae; larvae and nymphs are commonly recovered from Ochotonidae, and Rodentia: Cricetidae . All parasitic stages have been recovered from Lagomorpha: Ochotonidae, and Rodentia: Cricetidae; adults and larvae have been collected from Rodentia: Sciuridae, while nymphs alone have been taken from Rodentia: Geomyidae . There are no records of Ixodes ochotonae causing human parasitism.
