An Oriental species whose adults are usually found on Rodentia: Sciuridae; larvae and nymphs are commonly recovered from Rodentia: Muridae, and Soricomorpha: Soricidae; all parasitic stages have been collected from Rodentia: Sciuridae, Muridae and Hystricidae; immature stages have also
been recovered from Artiodactyla: Cervidae and Tragulidae, and Carnivora: Canidae and Felidae . Ixodes petauristae is a very rare parasite of humans.
