A Palearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages have been found on Aves (several orders), Carnivora: Procyonidae; Lagomorpha: Leporidae, Rodentia: Cricetidae, Muridae and Sciuridae, and Soricomorpha: Soricidae . Adults and nymphs have been found on Carnivora: Canidae; adults alone have been collected from Erinaceomorpha: Erinaceidae, and Artiodactyla: Bovidae; larvae and nymphs have been recovered from Lagomorpha: Ochotonidae, and Rodentia: Dipodidae (Guglielmone & Robbins 2018, Torii et al. 2019). Ixodes pavlovskyi is a frequent parasite of humans.

Note: Filippova and Panova (1998) found differences in the size and proportions of several morphological structures and consequently split this species into two subspecies: Ixodes pavlovskyi pavlovskyi and Ixodes pavlovskyi occidentalis, forms that may, in fact, represent different species.
