Note: Chilton (1904) allegedly described the male of Ixodes anatis, but the specimens used for its description were recognized as nymphs by Nuttall (1916). Camicas et al. (1998) list the larva of Ixodes anatis (as a synonym of Scaphixodes apteridis) as undescribed, but this stage was described in Dumbleton (1953). Heath and Kwak (2019) discovered lost type material of Ixodes anatis and designated a lectotype for this species.
