An Afrotropical species, all of whose known parasitic stages are usually found on Rodentia: Muridae; adults alone have been collected from Carnivora: Canidae, and nymphs and larvae have been recovered from Soricomorpha: Soricidae . There are no records of Ixodes fynbosensis causing human parasitism.
