An Oriental species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Rodentia: Muridae; larvae and nymphs are also commonly recovered from Soricomorpha: Soricidae; adults and nymphs have been collected from Carnivora: Felidae and Herpestidae, and Primates: Cercopithecidae; adults alone have been found on Artiodactyla: Bovidae; immature stages have been taken from Rodentia: Sciuridae, and rarely from Passeriformes: Alaudidae . There are no records of Ixodes ceylonensis causing human parasitism.
