An Afrotropical species, all of whose parasitic stages have been found on Mammalia (several orders); adults and nymphs have been collected from Cuculiformes: Cuculidae; immature stages have been recovered from Galliformes: Numididae and Phasianidae, and Passeriformes: Turdidae . Ixodes cumulatimpunctatus is a rare parasite of humans.
