Apsadaropteryx elongatulus (Kirkaldy)
(Figs 9, 20)
Issus elongatulus Kirkaldy 1906: 438 .
Apsadaropteryx elongatulus (Kirkaldy), Kirkaldy 1907: 104.
Type material examined. 1 male syntype “Cairns, Q. / Austr. 8.1904” “allotype” “ Issus / elongatulus / Kirk. / ♂ 298.”; 1 female syntype “Cairns, Q. / Austr. 8.1904” “Apsadarop- / teryx / elongatulus / Ƥ 298 / holotype ” (BPBM).
Other material examined. Australia, Queensland: 1 female, Cairns dist., A.M. Lea (SAM).
Distribution. Queensland.
Note. In his original description, Kirkaldy (1906) gives no specific mention of males or females but the above two specimens both match the original published data and are here regarded as syntypes. The labels bearing “ holotype ” and “allotype” were not validated by publication, as explained by Medler (1987) and this means that the male is available for designation as lectotype. This has not been done here pending a more intensive revision of the Australian Issidae .
