Genus Hemisciera Amy. y Serv.

One species, with basal third of tegmina grass green, and basal half of wings scarlet red ....... maculipennis Lap.

Note: Mr. Distant has described another species, Durhami, from Para Brazil, “ tegmina with about basal third opaquely virescent ochraceous, remainder pale creamy talc-like; wings with almost basal half pale ochraceous, etc.’’ Among the fifteen examples of maculipennis in my collection two were relaxed with steam, and immediately afterward I had two examples which exactly agreed with Mr- Distant's description. From this experience I am led to believe that the two names refer to one species.
