Elaphria is a large New World, predominantly Neotropical genus with 127 species; 14 are known from North America, one from Palaearctic, one from China, three from India and one from Africa (Pogue & Bolling 2003). Fibiger & Hacker (2007) listed four Palaearctic species ( E. albiviata (Hampson, 1909), E. conjugata (Moore, 1881), E. fissistigma (Hampson, 1898) and E. venustula), however the Old World species, except E. venustula, have never been revised, and placement of these requires confirmation. The main diagnostic features of Elaphria is as referred for the tribe.
