Argyrogrammana pulchra (Talbot, 1929)
(Figs 5–6, 48)
A single male belonging this species was collected in 2014 flying about five meters from the ground around 13:00h in the same place and time where males of Alesa rothschildi (Seitz, 1913) were found.
This species was described from Bogotá, Colombia based on a male and a female deposited at the BMNH. Apparently the record from PNSD is the second for this species and the first one for Brazil. As suggested by Hall & Willmott (1995) A. pulchra is probably close ally to A. sticheli (Talbot, 1929), a species only known from French Guiana (Hall & Willmott 1995, Brévignon & Gallard 1995). In fact the specimen found in PNSD has a upperside pattern of both wings similar to A. pulchra whereas the aspect of the blue spots of both wings underside is similar to A. sticheli . Based on these differences, it would be possible that the specimen from PNSD represents an undescribed taxon, however, considering that the male genitalia remains unknown for both A. pulchra and A. sticheli the description of the specimen from PNSD as new would be inadvisable.
