Remarks. Phloeonomus apicalis was originaly described from Sumatra (Cameron 1925). Steel (1960) redescribed it and provided records from Sumatra, Java, and Luzon. Rougemont (2001) recorded it from Hong Kong and Yunnan. During the study of the Paraphloeostiba material from the collection of G. de Rougemont no material of P. apicalis from Hong Kong and Yunnan was found. Specimens from Hong Kong belong to P. formosana, P. gayndahensis, P. sulcicollis, and P. sp. Specimens from Yunnan belong to P. formosana, P. ampliata sp.n., P. gayndahensis, and P. (P.) rougemonti sp.n. Thus, records of P. apicalis from China are probably erroneous and based on confusion with P. gayndahensis . The species is here recorded from Mindanao for the first time.
