(Figs. 1 E, 1S, 2F)

Atrichopogon minimus Kieffer, 1916a: 87 (male, female, figs., syntypes: 7 males and 8 females from Takao and Tainan); Kieffer 1916b: 154 (description of female reported from Taihoku).

Diagnosis. Eyes hairy, paratergite with 1 seta, scutellum with 7 setae.

Description. Female. Eyes pubescent. Proboscis short, teeth of mandible small, over 30. Palpus 5– segmented; sensory pit small (Fig. 1 E). Flagellum not preserved. Paratergite with 1 seta. Scutellum with 7 bristles, halter with white knob. Wing length 1.12 mm, second radial cell 3.3 times longer than first, macrotrichia in distal cells, rare, CR 0.71 (Fig. 2 F). TR (III) 2.54. Seminal capsule single, with short neck (Fig. 1 S), 0.140 mm long.

Male unknown.

Material examined. Female, labeled as follows: Taihoku (Form.), H. Sauter 1912, Atrichopogon minimus K. var., Kieffer det. This female from Taihoku does not belong to the type series. It was mentioned in Kieffer (1916b).

Discussion. The type series kept by Museum of Natural History in Budapest was destroyed in 1956. The female determined by Kieffer and described here agrees well with the original description of the species. Atrichopogon (A.) minimus: Tokunaga 1940a: 263 (female, fig. pl. 1 wing; Japan, Taiwan) with bare eyes represents another species.
