Material examined. Atrichopogon flaviceps: lectotype female, present designation, labeled as follows: Tainan, Formosa, H. Sauter, Holotypus, X 0 8 [October 1908]. Atrichopogon flaviceps var. mendax, holotype female, Taihoku, Formosa, H. Sauter, 1912, Kieffer det., Typus. SDEI.
Discussion. The description of var. mendax mentions only one female which we treat as the holotype. Atrichopogon flaviceps was described from 6 females. We hereby designate the preserved female as the lectotype. The preserved female types of A. flaviceps and A. mendax represent one species, therefore A. mendax is recognized here as a junior synonym of A. flaviceps .
