Litonotus triqueter Penard, 1922

Main morphological characters (according to Song & Wilbert 1989). Length 40–70 µm in vivo. Body broadly fusiform, left side distinctly vaulted carrying a median rib. Two macronuclear nodules with a single micronucleus in between. Contractile vacuole dorsal and slightly subterminal. Extrusomes rod-like, about 5 µm long, attached along whole length of oral bulge and scattered in cytoplasm. Somatic ciliary pattern Litonotus -like; 7–8 right and 5–6 left kineties.

Distribution. This species was found in the periphyton and benthos of the Turiec River (Tirjaková 1993); in the estuary of the Rudava River into the Morava River (Matis & Tirjaková 1994); in the benthos from the Gidra River (Tirjaková 2003a); in the sediment from the littoral zone of the upper Váh River near the village of Lisková (Tirjaková & Vďačný 2013a).
