Schizomyia Kieffer in Indonesia
Only three species have been described from Indonesia of this moderately large cosmopolitan genus of 64 species ( Gagné & Jaschhof 2017; Elsayed et al. 2018b; Elsayed et al. 2019a; Elsayed et al. 2019b; da Silva dos Santos et al. 2019). The three show remarkable diversity and their generic placement will need to be evaluated when the genus as a whole undergoes restudy. Several structures of some of these three species are odd for the genus: female cerci of S. laporteae are no longer distinct but incorporated into the needle-like protrusible part of ovipositor; male cerci of S. villebrunneae are incised caudally instead of being evenly convex; and gonostylar teeth are solid in S. laporteae, missing in S. nodosa, and spiny and narrow in S. villebrunneae .
