Genus Anthracopsis Karny, 1907

According to Karny (1907) the genus Anthracopsis (from Greek: coal-like appearance) is characterized by the following: fastigium verticis shorter and narrower than 1 st antennal segment, conical, ventrally keeled, forehead with dense punctuation, blackish, pronotum rounded, posteriorly just enlarged, without lateral carinae, lateral lobes small, ventral margin oblique, straight, humeral sinus absent, with dense punctuation, tegmina very short, completely hidden by pronotum, meso- and metasternal lobes triangular, ovipositor laterally compressed, ventral margin falcate, basally incurved, then straight, apically enlarged, apex acute.

Anthracopsis is a very characteristic micropterous genus with a vague similarity to some Copiphorini Karny, 1912 (black face, rough punctuation, brown colour).
