Dirhinus anthracia Walker, 1846

Material examined. IRAN: Fars, Larestan, loc. 3, 26.vii.2112, (1 ♀) (in CIRAD: GDEL0357); same data , 09.iv.2013 (5 ♂) (in JIAU).

Distribution. The species is widely distributed in the Old World tropics, reaching the Southern Palaearctic region on the border of its distribution. This is a new record for Iran.

Hosts. Dirhinus anthracia was reared from a wide range of hosts, such as Tephritidae and synanthropic flies ( Calliphoridae, Sarcophagidae, Muscidae) and it may also be a hyperparasitoid of Lepidoptera ( Pyralidae, Zygaenidae, Bombycidae and Noctuidae) and even Orthoptera (Acrididae) through Tachinidae . Five other Dirhinus species have already been recorded from Iran (Table 1).
