Brachymeria Westwood, 1829
Brachymeria is a large genus with 308 described species worldwide (Noyes 2017), including many parasitoids of Lepidoptera, some of which are important pests on various cultivated plants. For example B. ceratoniae Delvare was recently described from Iran as a parasitoid of Apomyelois ceratoniae (Zeller) ( Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), an economically important pest of the carob tree, Ceratonia siliqua L. (Delvare et al. 2011). Some Brachymeria, especially in the minuta species group, are obligatory secondary parasitoids via other Hymenoptera or Diptera (Burks 1960; Delvare & Huchet 2017).
