Genus Arisemus Satchell

Telmatoscopus, subg. Arisemus Satchell, 1955: 88 . Type species, Psychoda grabhamana Dyar, 1926 (by synonymy with originally designated type species, Telmatoscopus maculosus Satchell, 1955).

Bazara Vaillant, 1986: 337. Type species, Arisemus tetradactylus Botosaneanu & Vaillant, 1970 (orig. des.).

Comm.: Arisemus is a genus that encompasses 31 species distributed between Guatemala and Brazil, including several Caribbean islands (Quate & Brown 2004, Bravo & Araújo 2013b). A revision of the genus and key for the identification of species is found in Quate & Brown (2004). Three Arisemus species have been recorded from Colombia.
