Botyodes Guenée, 1854

Type species: Botyodes asialis Guenée, 1854 subsequently designated by Moore, ([1886] 1884–7)

Diagnostic characters: Antennae of male with four teeth on the basal joint enclosing a hollow; mid femora with a small grooved tuft at middle (Hampson 1896). In male genitalia, base of uncus is quadra-radiated, tegumen is strongly modified for the attachment of quadra-radiated base of uncus; valvae with transparent windows, costa strongly indented at middle.

Remarks: Out of the 10 known species of Botyodes, the type species, B. asialis (Figs. 1, 2, 11–14, 29) along with B. principalis (Figs. 3, 4, 15–18, 30) are true members of this genus. A new genus, Neobotyodes gen. nov. is erected here for crocopteralis . The rest of seven species are in need of a future thorough review.
