Diagnosis. Forewing length 7.5–10.0 mm (Fig. 2). Hypatopa silvestrella is similar to H. moriutiella Sinev, 1986 in the male genitalia, but it can be separated by having a well sclerotized juxta, and dense dentitions on the phallus on the distal 1/7 laterally (Fig. 10). In H. moriutiella the juxta is ill-defined, and the phallus lacks dentitions. Hypatopa silvestrella is similar to H. biprojecta in the female genitalia, but it can be separated by the elongate cylindrical antrum (Fig. 18), which is funnel-shaped in H. biprojecta .

Distribution. China (Gansu, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Henan, Jilin, Liaoning, Ningxia, Qinghai, Shanxi, Tianjin, Zhejiang), Japan, Korea, Russian Far East (Primorskiy and Khabarovskiy territories).
