DISTRIBUTION: Senegal to Quanza River (Angola), including Niger-Benue Basin.

COMMENT: Former occurrence in Lake Chad basin uncertain. Not reliably reported above the falls on the lower Congo River; see Hatt, 1934, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 66:554-560, 566.
