Leucophenga umbratula Duda, 1924
(Figs. 2 F, 4A, 4B, 8C–E, 14)
Leucophenga umbratula Duda, 1924a: 187; 1924b: 238; Lin & Wheeler, 1972: 253; Okada, 1987: 679.
Diagnosis. This species is mostly similar to L. argentina in having the wing fuscous along R1 only (Fig. 2 A, F), and the shape of aedeagus (Figs. 10 E, 14D), but can be distinguished from the latter by the color patterns of abdominal tergites in both male (Fig. 8 C, D) and female (Fig. 8 E), and the paramere rounded apically (Fig. 14 C).
However, the specimens show distinctly difference from the latest and most relevant descriptions about L. umbratula from Taiwan, China (Lin & Wheeler 1972; Okada 1987) in having the wing fuscous along R1 only (Fig. 2 F), while no conspicuous difference could be found in having the thorax mostly dark colored (Fig. 4 A, B), and in the color patterns of abdominal tergites in male (Fig. 8 C, D). Therefore, all of the specimens were identified as L. umbratula to avoid further confusion.
Description. Ocellar triangle dark brown, with ca. 0–2 seta(e) above ocellar setae. Frons yellow in male, brownish yellow in female. Pedicel brownish yellow; first flagellomere yellow. Clypeus brownish. Palpus brownish yellow to brownish. Mesonotum brownish yellow, with four brownish, longitudinal stripes submedially and laterally in male (Fig. 4 A), brownish yellow, brownish before scutellum in female. Postpronotal lobe brownish yellow (Fig. 4 B). Acrostichal setulae in ca. 6–8 irregular rows (Fig. 4 A). Scutellum brown, dark brown laterally, brownish yellow at tip (Fig. 4 A). Pleura with a brown, longitudinal stripe above (Fig. 4 B). Katepisternum and meron brownish yellow, brownish above (Fig. 4 B). Wing (Fig. 2 F): Costal vein between R2+3 and R4+5 distally with ca. 4–5 peg-like spinules on ventral surface. Abdominal tergites brown to dark brown, mostly yellow medially between 2nd to 4th or 5th tergites in male (Fig. 8 C, D), entirely dark brown in female (Fig. 8 E). Male terminalia: Epandrium with ca. 7 setae near posterior margin and ventral corner per side (Fig. 14 A). Surstylus rounded apically (Fig. 14 A). Hypandrium with 1 sensillum (Fig. 14 B). Paramere with a remarkable wrinkle subdorsally and ca. 6 sensilla aligned above distally (Fig. 14 C). Aedeagus slender, slightly expanded on posterodorsal 1/3 (Fig. 14 D).
