Type: — VIETNAM. Vinh Phuc: Tam Dao National Park, Tam Dao 2, 1044 m, 21°28′44.0′′N 105°37′39.6′′E, 22 September 2011, Q.B. Nguyen et al. VMN-B1494 (holotype SING, isotypes E, P, PR, VNMN)

Distribution:—The species is known solely by the type collection in N Vietnam (Vinh Phuc Province.

Ecology and phenology:—It grows in humid evergreen broad-leaved montane forests on rhyolites at elevations of about 1050 m a.s.l. Flowers in September–October.

Conservation status:—The species is currently known only from one location, found in Tam Dao National Park, with a total occupancy area surely less than 4 km 2. Taking into consideration rising tourist activity, the conservation status of the species was proposed as Vulnerable (VU D2) following IUCN 2023 criteria (Middleton et al. 2021).
