Tribe Ergatini Fairmaire, 1864
The tribe Ergatini is composed of five genera with 20 species (Tavakilian & Chevillotte 2018). Only the larva and pupa of Trichocnemis spiculatus LeConte, 1851, have been described (Craighead 1915). The larva of this species has: integument with texture leathery, dull, finely and densely rugose; pleural discs on six abdominal segments, finely rugose; epistomal margin projected above clypeal base at extremities; additional carina above epistoma bearing four large, blunt rounded teeth; three stemmata scarcely visible; mandible acutely triangular, rugose with upper and inner face dully striated; posterior area of pronotum finely rugose; legs 5-segmented.
The pupa has disc of the pronotum smooth, and remainder areas finely rugulose; mesonotum and metanotum glabrous, transversely wrinkled; abdominal tergites with microspines; gin-traps on tergites II–III, III–IV, IV–V and V–VI; last tergite dorsally with two short, conical, fleshy protuberances.
