Type species. Caribboecetes magellani Just, 1984a .

Diagnosis. Caribboecetina with mandibular palp blunt, with small second article, not overreaching mandible body. Inner ramus of uropod 1 at most 1/2 length of outer ramus, flattened, with robust setae on margin (except Concholestes, longer, cylindrical). Inner lobes of lower lip complexly lobate (Fig. 4 C). Ocular field of eye lobes inflated. Male antenna 2 at most as long as cephalon and pereon combined. Basis of pereopod 7 with marginal setae and midlateral, longitudinal row of setae (Fig. 4 E 1). Uropod 3 without ramus.

Component species. Ambicholestes crassicornis (Just, 1984a); A. cygnatratus Just, 1998; A. magellani (Just, 1984a); A. nanshaensis (Ren, 2006) comb. nov.; A. poorei Just, 1998; A. squamiferus (Just, 1984a); A. trilobatus Just, 1998 .
