Type genus. Siphonoecetes Krøyer, 1845 .

Diagnosis. Siphonoecetini with rostrum present or absent; antenna 2 flagellum with 2 robust setae on article 3, 1 distal robust setae on article 2, none on article 1 (Fig. 3 Ea); coxal plates 3 and 4 with long simple setae along margins (Fig. 3 A 1); gnathopod 2 carpus oval to somewhat rectangular, posterior margin with row of several robust setae (Fig. 2 C 4c 1); pereopods 5–6 carpus apex with 1 long robust seta and at least 1 short robust seta (Fig. 3 B 1); unguis of pereopods 5–7 with accessory claw (Fig. 3 B 1); uropod 2 with 2 rami (Fig. 3 C 1); uropod 3 with single ramus; telson proximal margin in dorsal view completely or nearly hidden under urosomite 2 distal margin (Fig. 2 C 6, Fig. 3 C 1).
