Fauveliopsis jameoaquensis Núñez in Núñez, Ocaña & Brito, 1997

Fauveliopsis jameoaquensis: Núñez, Ocaña & Brito, 1997: 254–255, Fig. 2.

TL: Jameos del Agua lagoon, Lanzarote, Canary Islands. D: Only known from the type locality, 5 m depth.

Type material: Holotype (TFMC 192) and three paratypes (DZUL 200), Laguna Jameos del Agua, Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Apr. 1993, J. Núñez, coll., Apr. 1995, M. Pascual, coll. (not seen).

Diagnosis. Fauveliopsis with 10 chaetigers; all with two aciculars and two capillaries per parapodia. Gonads in chaetigers 6–9.

Remarks. F. jameoaquensis is unique, as indicated in the key above, because it has only two chaetae per rami along body, and the body integument is smooth. Another unique feature is that this is the only anchialine species in the family. This species was probably described based upon juveniles, judging from the small number of chaetigers in the type specimens. The presence of gonads in chaetigers 6–9 deserves confirmation.
