Type specimen studied. Holotype (Fig. 2) by monotypy (female, MNHN): “Dans les Tabacs [h] // Museum Paris, Brésil, Bahia, Grouvelle, 1903 [p] // grouvellei Théry [h] Type [p]”.
Diagnosis. Small, short, black species distinguished from the previous species by the narrower vertex and shorter elytra which bear more distinct and larger postscutellar depression.
Length: 3.3 mm.
Bionomy. Unknown.
Sexual dimorphism. Male unknown.
Distribution. So far known only from the type locality: Brazil, Prov. Bahia.
Note. According to the description (Théry, 1934) the type specimen was found in a package of tobacco originating from the Brazilian province of Bahia. No other specimen has been found in collections studied.
