Type specimen studied. Number of syntypes unknown; lectotype (Fig. 11), here designated (male, MNHN): “ Colombia, Rio Frio, Mgd.[Magdalena Prov.], Darlington [p] // Darlingtoni Théry [h] Type [p] ” ; paralectotypes, here designated: “ Colombia, Rio Frio, Mgd.[Magdalena Prov.], Darlington [p] // Darlingtoni Théry [h] Type [p] ” (1 male, MFCB; 2 females, MNHN; 1 male, NMPC).
Further specimens studied. COLOMBIA. no precise data (2 males, MNHN); VENEZUELA. LARA: Barquisimento/ NW (10km S Bobare), 10º06ʹ51ʺN 69º26ʹ43ʺW, 690m, 11.x.2005, M. Hornburg leg. (1 male, 1 female, MHCB)
Diagnosis. Small, length: 3.4–4.8 mm, bronze with a red-violet tinge; pronotum with a well-developed prehumeral keel (like in Fig. 61); frons with very short, nearly indistinct, white pubescence; elytra flat with deep, wide impressions, 1.30 times as long as wide; aedeagus rather long, parameres with preapical spines (Fig. 69).
Since the number of syntypes is unknown I hereby designate the male from MNHN as the lectotype and specimens from MFCB (1 male), NMPC (1 male) and 2 females from MNHN as the paralectotypes of T. darlingtoni Théry, 1944 .
Bionomy. Unknown.
Sexual dimorphism. Female differs from male in its somewhat stouter body and more intense red lustre of the frons and ventral surface.
Distribution. Colombia, Venezuela (new country record).
